Yep that’s right, Seattle does get some sunshine! AND we sure enjoyed it this past weekend on a little vacation to Washington.
Our little traveler
Our friend got married in Seattle and my best friend lives on Bainbridge Island so we planned a vacation to go visit. If you’ve never been to Seattle I definitely recommend it. This is the third time I’ve visited and we were lucky this time to have gorgeous weather.
On the Ferry to Bainbridge Island
Like I said we stayed with our friends who live on Bainbridge Island which is a bit of a trek to get to. We flew into Seattle on Thursday then hopped in a cab to the Ferry Terminal then rode the ferry to the island where our friend was waiting for us. Then it was about a 20 minute drive to her house which was set amongst the trees with a gorgeous view of the mountains.
Thursday we relaxed at their house watching the kiddos play and enjoying a nice evening outside.
A little game of checkers
Then we headed to downtown Poulsbo for ice cream and a short walk.
Friday we hung around the house in the morning, enjoyed a yummy breakfast and then got in a 22 minute Hard Corps workout.
With the kids and all! It was a great workout for just a short 22 minutes
Then we packed up a lunch and headed to a nearby beach to help sort oysters!
There is a CSA for oysters in Bainbridge and when they harvest them they invite volunteers to come help sort the big ones from the small ones. The big ones are kept and the small ones go back in the bags to continue growing.
The Hubby helped sort for awhile as the kids played and I watched. Squatting and bending over for that long isn’t the most comfortable right now. For his hard work we were able to take a dozen home with us to enjoy later
We drove to another beach after that for lunch and some play in the sand.
The Love Nugget was having such a blast running through the sand and looking for “treasures”. If he had it his way we would have brought home a suitcase of shells!
Later that evening, we drove about 20 minutes to a tiny town called Port Gamble. It reminded me of something out of an Amish movie. So cute and so quaint!
We enjoyed a yummy dinner at what is probably their only restaurant, Port Gamble General Store. It prides itself in serving fresh, local, organic meals and it was good! We shared some cauliflower, potato croquettes and bacon wrapped dates for an appetizer, then I had small salad and cup of soup. Plus sweet potato fries from the Hubby’s plate and a few bites of The Love Nuggets fish and chips. Which was so fresh and yummy!
Saturday, of course I woke up early but luckily we are staying in their basement that has a separate living area with a T.V. and weights so I could bust out a quick workout. Loving these new 22 Minute Hard Corps Workouts! I did a resistance workout followed by a good amount of stretching. Then I headed upstairs to help the kiddos do a little yoga
Little Yogi’s
The Love Nugget has been enjoying Cosmic Yoga on youtube that is free and has different themed yoga videos. So cute to have his friend join in
After a light breakfast we drove to downtown Poulsbo for coffee and donuts at Sluy’s bakery. I had a yummy scone, The Love Nugget had a sugar donut and The Hubby had a really sugary looking cream cheese stuffed cinnamon roll.
We walked around a little then headed to a park to play.
Haven’t seen one of these merry go rounds in a long time!
The main reason we came to Seattle was to attend a friends wedding which was happening on this day. Since we were on Bainbridge Island, we had to leave at 1:30 to catch the Ferry and make it to the 3:00 start time.
It’s definitely a trek living on an island!
The wedding was perfect and I was so happy to have been able to attend.
A few more weeks and I don’t think I would have gotten the doc’s approval to fly since I’m now a little over 30 weeks! Less than to go!!!!!
Sunday morning I actually slept in until 6:40 which is pretty late for me. We had a lazy morning again enjoying coffee and relaxing before getting ready for brunch.
Love Nugget playing with my friends 8 month old. He LOVED him and was so gentle to him. Made me even more excited to see him as a big brother
Our friends took us to one of their favorite restaurants, Cafe Nola. I had the special, Duck Egg BLT and it was delicious!
We cruised around in Downtown Bainbridge then went to the Kids Discovery Museum for some fun!
I’m not sure who enjoyed it more The Hubbys or the kids
Since we had two cars, The Hubby, Love Nugget and I took off to explore a little bit while they took their kids back home to nap. We ended up back in downtown Poulsbo where we went to a few shops and I picked up the first outfit I’ve purchased for our new little dude.
We also went into a free aquarium that entertained The Love Nugget for about 10 minutes.
Once, back, we enjoyed a relaxing afternoon/evening at the house playing corn hole, chatting and eating a yummy bbq dinner.
There was also some un-pictured Oysters that we brought home from the other day
I was pretty exhausted and literally almost went to bed at 6:30 but stayed up to hang out for awhile.
We played some Taboo and lounged around before I finally hit the sack around 9:00. Even though we had a pretty relaxing trip I think all our activities and just not sleeping in my own bed caught up with me. Someone else too
Traveling is exhausting It was so fun though and I’m already thinking of when we can return again!
